Our overnight stay at Coalmine Beach Holiday Park was most enjoyable. The Park is central to part of the Bibbulmun Track, it passing through Walpole and along Coalmine Beach Road, past the Holiday Park, and on to Denmark. (For more about the Bibbulmun Track – www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/)
Lee can now say she has “Walked the Bibbulmun Track” (if only for 500.metres of its total 1,000.kms!)
Along this section of track, and adjacent to the Holiday Park, an open picnic area with BBQs. The track/Coalmine Road passes Coalmine Beach on Nornalup Inlet where Mike used his metal detector. He found a few decimal coins and a couple of pre-decimal coins along with the usual bottle tops and ring pulls.
Back at camp, a cheeky kangaroo had pawed a plastic bag out from under a tent and was growling at anyone who came to shoo it away. Only when it had eaten bananas and bread rolls and whatever else was in the bag, would it move away. The occupier of the tent was no-where to be found at the time and would return to a nasty surprise.
