June 2018 – Scarborough Beach, WA

There has been a $100 million development of Scarborough and the 1.6.km stretch of foreshore at Scarborough Beach is very close to completion.  This popular beach destination with its promenade views and an amphitheatre in between stepped grass areas facing the ocean, has been the site of the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships a number of times, hosted by the Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club.  The upgrading of the area is very impressive.

At the southern end, the new swimming pool and Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club, established in 1928.  The Club has a new, beautiful multi-storey facility. Nearby, the amphitheatre. Families can enjoy plenty of grassed areas all along the foreshore development, BBQ’s, the “Snake Pit” skate bowl , skate park, climbing wall and the “Whale Playground”. Walk to the top of Sunset Hill and have uninterrupted views of the ocean. Shops, restaurants and accommodation are all nearby.

All up, a fantastic place to spend the day and into the night.

The highlight of it all? The beautiful beach.

A note to visitors:  Parking was a big issue on the Sunday we were there.
