A favourite beach of ours to visit, Cottesloe Beach was the first beach developed on the Perth coast. 50+ years ago, in the days of no air-conditioning, when we were unable to sleep in our home on hot summer nights, my parents would bring us down to Cottesloe beach to sleep. As a youngster I enjoyed the shallow concrete pool (now long gone) that was built on the beach and fed with sea water. We have taken visitors to WA to Cottesloe Beach and enjoyed many sunsets on the tiered lawns, eating fish and chips. Rarely have we been there and not walked out to the end of the rock groyne which marks the southern-most section of Cottesloe Beach. Major events held here include the annual “Rottnest Channel Swim” and “Sculptures by the Sea”.
